Get Your Financial House in Order

My grandmother just passed away.  The occurrence encourages me to enlighten everyone to take care of the financial matters and inform at least two trusted family members where to find the papers.  The most important documents every person must have are; a will, a revocable trust, an advanced directive and durable power of attorney for health care and a financial power of attorney.   If you have not created these forms then you do not have them. 


My grandmother was a packrat keeping documents from eras past.  It was like the old saying of searching for a needle in a haystack.  It took days to find her insurance papers.  We still have not found the will or the trust.  We will have to research the information by going to the hall of records for our city to determine her designate recipients of her properties.  We will most likely have to go through probate court to ensure that her children receive a fair share.


Using my life and experience as an example, please do not let this happen to your family.
